OVERDRAFTS & OVERDRAFT FEES

 
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO OPT-IN FOR YOUR DEBIT/ATM CARD.
 

WHAT’S CHANGING? Unless you give us your permission, we can no longer continue to offer the same overdraft services you already receive on your debit card and ATM transactions.

 

WHY? The overdraft services you presently have can only be offered with your permission, due to new regulations.

 
WHO’S AFFECTED? All of our members who use debit cards for purchases or make ATM withdrawals.
 
HOW CAN I CONTINUE TO RECEIVE OVERDRAFT SERVICES? Stop in any of our offices to sign up or call us at 1-800-437-9187 (available 24 hours).

You will need to confirm the last 4 digits of your Social Security number when calling 1-800-437-9187.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OVERDRAFTS AND OVERDRAFT FEES.
 
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:
 
1. We have standard overdraft practices that come with your account.
 
2. We also offer overdraft protection plans such as a link to a savings account, or a line of credit, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices. To learn more, ask us about these plans.
 
This notice explains our standard overdraft practices.
 
WHAT ARE THE OVERDRAFT PRACTICES THAT COME WITH MY ACCOUNT?
 
We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
  • Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number.
  • Automatic bill payments.
 
We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you authorize us by signing up or calling 1-800-437-9187 (available 24 hours):
·        ATM transactions.
·        Everyday debit card transactions.
 
We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.
 
If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.
 
WHAT FEES WILL I BE CHARGED IF GOLDEN CIRCLE CREDIT UNION PAYS MY OVERDRAFT?
 
Under our standard overdraft practices:
·        We will charge you a fee of $25.00 each time we pay an overdraft.
·        There is no limit on the total fees we can charge you for overdrafting your account.
 
WHAT IF I WANT GOLDEN CIRCLE CREDIT UNION TO AUTHORIZE AND PAY OVERDRAFTS ON MY ATM AND EVERY DAY DEBIT CARD TRANSACTIONS?
 
If you want us to authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions, you can:
·        Call 1-800-437-9187 (available 24 hours).
·        Stop in any Golden Circle Credit Union Office to sign up.
·        Please opt in or out for both savings and checking accounts.
